I caught up with Somnath from Bulgaria over the Spring Navaratri 2008 in Haidakhan after seeing his Inspiring Documentry that was done for Bulgarian Televison. The film shows his uplifting story and the many changes he goes through as he over came a very difficult adversity in his early life and how through his faith & trust found his way to India, Muni Raji & Haidakhan BABAji! Very well done with excellent footage from all over India including Haldwani, Haidakhan and more. Insightful Interviews with Shri Muni Raji, Prem Baba, Gor Hari, Har Govinda & Swami Niranjan. I asked Somnath if he would allow me to transcribe parts of the documentary for BABAJiCALLING.COM to which he graciously said YES! You can find Somnath's Film for sale in DVD format in Haidakhan VishwaMAHAdham or contact Somnath directly. I hope you enJOY this first Interview with Shri Muni Raji and I hope to put up more of the Interviews soon!

OM NAMAH SHIVAYA

SHRI MUNI RAJI

Discipline is the essential rule to follow in life. As the Sun and the moon constantly follow their rhythms, one has to find their constancy and discipline. It is essential that we always do our duties and precisely. We should find our discipline and follow it everyday. Discipline is the most important thing. Without discipline you cannot understand everything. We should make an effort for everything we want to achieve. If you want to win the lottery you at least have to buy a ticket. If you want to find God, you should make an effort. If you do it every morning with a good heart, you will find him within yourself. But if you don't make an effort, how will you find him? If you want to change your life, you have to make an effort. Do whatever you think is Good, have good thoughts, say good, do good. Everything belongs to God. Nothing belongs to me or to you. What you see now, will not be here one day. Everything is transient. I'm NOTHING. We have to think we are Nothing. Because one day we will be gone. We just have to play our role here and then one day we'll be gone. In the days we spend in this world we'd better have good thoughts, say good and do good. The Greatest thing is Humanity. All religions were created by people. When we are born, we have no religion. The True Religion is to be a good person.

And to quote another Ocean Of LOVE, An apostle Of Peace who summed up his 6 decades of study, practice and our Universal responsibility in these Simple words. "Our common Human Religion is Kindness."

Shub Navaratri! JAI MATA DI! Paramanhansa Yoganandaji once said "We can worship God as The Divine Mother, for Mother is closer than the father and if we pray to the Mother Divine, she will answer through her lighting voice!" and so it was that we Once again celebrated the Spring Navaratri in Haidakhan VishwaMAHAdham from 06-14 April 2008.

Navaratri is one of the greatest & longest Hindu festivals, lasting 9 nights, It symbolises the triumph of good over evil and is divided into sets of three days to adore different aspects of Ma Durga. On the first three days, the Mother is invoked as the powerful Kali in order to destroy all our impurities, vices and defects. The next three days, the Mother is adored as a giver of spiritual wealth, Lakshmi. The final set of three days is spent in worshipping the mother as the goddess of wisdom, Saraswati. It is said that the entire Creation has emanated from The Divine Mother Herself, and She is constantly protecting Her creation with the utmost motherly care and affection. Her heart is overflowing with a cosmic flood of compassionate love for all beings, who are Her very own children. But it it is during Navaratri that Her love and blessings are uniquely available to the world. So Navaratri is the festival in which God is adored as Mother In fact, Hinduism is the only religion in the world, which gives so much importance to the mother aspect of God. The Divine Mother Festival is one of the most Powerful spiritual experiences we are blessed to be able to participate in, she is the creator & sustainer of the Universe and as Paramahansa Yogananda said prayers to The Mother bring immediate results!

As you can imagine preparations for such a large and Auspcious occasion start weeks in advance with karma yogis readying the ashram by cleaning, painting, decorating and room arranging for the many devotees that will arrive for the busiset festival in Haidakhan. Every year we recieve more and more guests and this year we had nearly 350 Western guests and about 250-300 Indian guests. Once again Shri BABAji has called our brothers & sisters from all over the Earth with the largest group of devotees now coming from Russia. Other countries included, Germany, Italy, USA, Australia, Canada, UK, New Zealand, Croatia, Estonia, Bulgaria, Lativa, Slovenia, Poland, Holland, Greece, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, Argentia, Chile and MORE!!! Once again an International Community Celebration!!!

It was around 5:00 PM on 4 April that Shri Muni Raji arrived in Haidakhan. As always adding extra excitment to an already happy occasion. It is always Amazing to feel how the entire energy in the ashram changes when he is present. It was a stormy, rainy, cold night with howling winds that lasted into the next day when Shri Muni Raji gave the first Chandans one day before the start of Navaratri. We didn't know what kind of weather to expect for the next 9 days but the morning of the 6th brought Sunny, clear skies which stayed with us for the entire festival!

The Navaratri Programme is full on, For the next nine days, waking at 4:00 am and ending in the evening around 9:30-10:00 pm. It is said that any meritorious acts performed during Navaratri bring every kind of blessing, including true devotion, spiritual wisdom, divine protection, inner peace, and radiant energy. So it is very important that we do our sadhana at this auspicious time to receive the full blessings Of the Mother. The spiritual practices that we do during Navaratri give us the benefits of millions of such practices done at other times of the year! This time offers us the chance to purify the negative karma of millions of lifetimes, Such progress can be achieved in just a few short days. That is the precious boon from Divine Mother!

After morning bath people were sitting, and meditating in the main temple waitng for Shri Muni Raji to arrive to give Chandan starting around 5:00 am. With so many people Muni Raji gave chandan for around 45 minutes and then Pujari from Holland took over giving Chandan just up until morning aarti at 7:00 am. But the time passed quickly as devotees gathered around to sing OM NAMAH SHIVAY and other bhajans to The Mother like "Jaya Jagamabe, Jai Ma Durga" as we queued up the line of devotees streching from BABAji's asan around the murti of Old Herakhan BABA, all the way to the far reaches of the back of the temple where ladies were stringing the flower malas for the day.

Following the morning Aarti Shri Muni Raji led the Paduka Puja in the main mandir with his usual exemplary dedication & devotion. The Guru Pada puja is an offering to the sandals of Shri BABAJI- symbolically an offering to the feet of the Master.
It is a rare opportunity to have the direct Energy of Shri MAHA Prabuji. It is For the sake of His disciples, the formless Guru takes the form in Padukas, so it was no surprise that the temple was quite full of devotees as bells sounded as we each waited to offer light to Shri BABAJI'S Padukas which fulfils the aspirations of everyone's heart without fail.

Next as Shri Muni Raji moved to the back of the temple and the Murti of Haidakhan BABA to lead the Divine Mother puja where the many Pandits were already seated and chanting , more bhajans and chanting were flowing from the front of the temple by devotees. A very eleborate Puja with many offerings and mantras, I am not the proper one to try to explain it but one of the aims of this puja is to propitiate Shakti, the Goddess in Her aspect as Power, to bestow upon man all wealth, auspiciousness, prosperity, knowledge and all other potent powers. Whatever be the particular or special request that everyone may put before the Goddess, whatever boon may be asked of Her, the one thing behind all these is propitiation, worship and linking oneself with Her and by this Everyone is blessed with Her loving mercy and is protected by Her.

After the Devi Puja again in the main temple there was the reading of the Haidiyakhandi Sapta Sati 700 Glorious Praises to the Divine Mother written by our dearly departed Shastriji, SHRI VISNU DATTA MISRA who Shri BABAji referred to as the Purest man on Earth. Who himself admitted that he followed BABAJI like his shadow. When asked, Shastriji emphasized that whatever he has written was "By the grace of my master and by the direct inspiration of the Lord himself... I am merely a writing instrument." His Love & dedication to BABA and the Divine Mother was felt by all who knew him and continues to INSPIRE & Bless us through his beautiful poetry and writings.

As the reading of the Spata Shati finishes it is just around 10:30 am and the Padukas now make their was down to the Dhuni and cross over to the Gufa side. Shri Muni Raji now is transported over to the Gufa by car where we will all meet him by the Haven kund. As we followed the Padukas across the riverbed it is full of vendors selling all types of items for the festival everything from fruits, fresh juices, incense, devotional items, even one stand making jellibies and of course lots and lots of coconuts to be offered at the yagna. As people arrive on the Gufa it is a florish of activity, Music, and Pandits chanting, Pujas, people pranaming their way down the 9 temples. Muni Raji sits next to the haven Kund surounded by devotees and people come over to pay their respects as they prepare for the haven. Shri Babaji reinstituted the Havan as one of his most important spiritual practices that we can do during his most recent manifestation. The Yagna is the means of worshipping the Highest God or ones own inner self. The haven kund was beautifully decorated each day and filled to maxium capacity as Indians and Westerners gathered round as Raghuvir from Holland annouced who would be sitting to offer each day and then Inspire everyone with his opening words. With the new Shastriji receiting the mantras and Shri Muni Raji leading the haven with offerings of incense, fruits, flowers, , grains, milk, and honey, are offered into the fire along with the sounds of "Swaha" [I offer] after each mantra. Fire plays an important role in many religions and it is said that The smoke of the fire takes the prayers up into the ethers to where the Gods reside. As the fire ceremony comes to an end everyone recieves a bit of offering to put into the fire for the final Swaha. And the Haidakhan Mother Aarti is sung followed by OM Haidakhani as people pranam around the fire. The Gufa side is still florishing with activity as people go up to see Muni Raji for personal interviews, Muni Raji goes over to bless the Prasad where Devotees are working on preparing the food for the thousands of people that will come each day for the daily bhandara. Each day a different country sponsers a bhandara and on that day the people of that country help the Indian staff prepare and serve the food and add their own uniqe touch from their own country. The bhandaras were expectional & sumptuous. While everyone waits to eat there is much singing and dancing along the main temples and bhajans flowing through the air, Love & JOY radiating from everyone's faces as we prepare to take prasad!

After Prasad it's time for a bit of rest it's nearly 2:00 pm now and the reading of the Shrimad Devi Bhagvatam starts at 4:00 pm each day in the main temple by Our new Shastriji. This Highly Auspicious Book describes the Splendour of the Divine Mother/Devi. It streches over 12 books and 18,000 verses. Filled with philosophical reflections, and tales extoling the virtues of the goddess Durga as the supreme being. It has become a Supreme text for Devi worshipers as evidenced by the constant flow of devotees who come up just to pranam to this Holy text. As Shri Shastriji reads the Sanskrit verses they are translated into English for our benefit with brief interludes of chanting and singing of verses with dholak and other instuments. Shastriji ends each afternoon with a small puja and the Mother Aarti a truly Inspiring Afternoon!

Evening Aarti started at 7:00 PM and were some of the most glorious Aartis we have in Haidakhan with the temple to full capacity, the sound of so many devotees and wonderful musicians coming together and singing in unison, Moti Ma, Mukandi Lal, Pujari and others leading the Aarti and bhajans. Shree BABAji instucted us to do this powerful practice morning & evening time, the prayers appealing to His grace for fulfillment of all desires and to dispel the darkness of ignorance of the Self. Shree Muni Raji entered into the temple right about the time we started singing the Hanuman Chalisa each evening and the queue formed instantly so people could go up and pranam and recieve their Wonderful Navaratri Prasad again the queue streaching all the way around to the back of the temple! It's no surprise that with so Much Shakti and Blessings of the Mother that the Bhajans went on until nearly 10:00 pm some evenings.

For Nine days we were very Blessed to come together as one Universal family from all over the world and attend Navaratri In Haidakhan VishwaMAHAdham it is a most POWERFUL & Unique experience to be able to celebrate here where the Lord lived and resided in Physical form. The popularity & Blessings Of Navaratri is unmatched as evidenced by the number of pilgrims who came to celebrate here in the foothills of the Himalayas. It brings a gust of fresh air into our lives providing a break from everyday routine life. It is said that the Divine Mother in the form of Durga fought the formidable demons of ignorance and egoism for nine days, and triumphed over them on the tenth day. Navaratri is a celebration of the victory of enlightenment over ignorance. For nine days besides celebrating, worshipping and working together we too also faced formidable challenges both inwardly & outwardly with such an intensely strong programme, but as many of us can attest the presence of the Divine and the MANY Blessings of Goddess Durga were strongly felt by all!

Once Again 1008 Pranams & Thank You's to Shri Shri 1008 Wale Baba Herakhan BABAji for his INSPIRATION & BLESSINGS and to Shri Muni Raji MAHAraj for his endless Love & Guidance. Thank you to everyone who came participated and worked so hard to make this Navaratri such a Blessed event!

OM NAMAH SHIVAY
MAHAShivaratri~The GREAT Night Of SHIVA

Preparations for our annual yatra to Gujarat can actually start months in advance as we collect names and start to book railway tickets for the trains that traditionally are to full capicity very early on at these festival times. But with our places on the Pashim Express confirmed the Haidyakhandis would be making the journey from Haidakhan all the way down to Vapi [About 3 hours North Of Mumbai] together for MAHA Shivaratri.

Many people say that Haidkahan is like a school, and for me these journeys are are like going on a "Class trip" or "Class Yatra". A yatra is not only a pilgrimage to temples or sacred places but also an exchange of energies, mentally, emotionally, & Spiritually & on on many different levels. Of course everyone has their own unique experience, but one thing we all shared on our journey was an opening of horizons & experiences with new & different communities all focussed on the same Guru or God, in our case Haidakhan BABAji.

To add to the Already Auspicious Occasion, Shri Muni Raji had annouced that he would indeed be attending the Festival giving us bhaktas even more cause for Celebration! Several of us were in Shri Muni Raji's home in Haldwani the morning of 03 March along with Man Singh where we attended one of the most intimate & moving Paduka pujas, I myself have ever experienced, followed by haven & aarti. After Breakfast we saw Shri Muni Raji off as he left for Delhi. From Delhi he would be flying down to Mumbai and then driving on to Manda Ashram. We Haidakhandis would be taking the night train to Delhi. We arrived in Old Delhi around 5:00 AM and went on to New Delhi to find a hotel, freshen up take breakfast and do some last minute shopping and errands until our train departed around 4:00 PM. The Pachim Express is the longest part of the train journey clocking in at about 21 hours assuming there are no delays...tee hee...
Shree BABAji's Paduka's along with Man Singh & Lakshmi Ahluwalia were just one coach ahead of us in First class. After Settling into our places in 2/AC, and the train got moving we headed up to the First Class coach. The rail attendents wanted to know where we thought we were going since the trains are sectioned off by class but we explained BABAji and they let us pass. We knocked on the door and were graciously ushered in by Man Singh. He lit some dhoop and started another very moving Puja to BABAji's sandals. When the puja was finished a HUGE box of Ganesha's favourite sweet appeared Motichoor Ladoos! And Prasad was passed around for everyone to enJOY! We didn't have to imagine too hard what it was like to make this very same journey with Shree BABAji when he was in physical form as we all sat down and Lakshmiji shared wonderful stories with us about travelling with BABAji on the train and how there was a continuous knocking on the door of the compartment with people wanting to see BABA and as they pulled into each new station more people would get on and stay on so that by the time they reached their destination the entourage of people was enormous! Man Singh & Lakshmi's kindness didn't stop there as we returned back to our coach with the BIG box of ladoos and instuctions to return back to First Class when we reached the Matura Station in a little more than an hour where they had pre-ordered a beautiful dinner for us all to share. In the meantime back in 2/AC we Haidakhandis started to sing Aarti peeking the curisosity of our fellow travellers, by the time we got to India's beloved Hanuman Chalisa, we had just about everyone in our compartment, clapping & singing along! Early next morning we again went up to the First Class coach, by now the railway attendants were greeting us with "Bhole BABA Ki JAI" Man Singhji gave us Chandan and feed us breakfast. Lakshmi jokeingly asked us if we had ever before received chandan while having breakfast, we all laughingly had to say no that this was indeed a first! We were again invited to sit down and eat while Lakshmi shared more wonderful stories with us as we watched India pass by through the huge First class picture windows. The time flew and the next thing we knew we were arriving at our stop!

We arrived in Vapi the afternoon of 05 March where we were warmly greeted and put into taxis & transported to MANDA Ashram. Manda is a 32 acre mango farm, everywhere you look are huge beautiful Mango trees, you will also see coconuts, Chicko [That exotic fruit that looks kind of like a kiwi but when you bite into it, it's like biting into honey] & Ramfal which is a kind of like a custard apple. It was around 1980 when Shree BABAji instucted devotees to look for land for an ashram to sell cows & to help the local people. In 1983 BABAji installed the GANESHA murti, the Intesenly POWERFUL ADYAKALI Murti & BATUK BHAIRAV Murti into the octagonal mandir. It was later in 1985 that the Hanumanji murti was installed. Since 1983 BABAji instructed that MAHAShivaratri be celebrated in Manda ashram. We setteled into our rooms, bathed and freshened up and were served a late lunch. Again another very special Paduka puja in the evening & evening Aarti.

MAHASHIVARATRI was Celebrated on 06 March beginning with Chandan given by Shri Muni Raji at 5:30 AM in BABAji's Kutir, followed by Abhishek. As this auspicious puja starts, the sound of bells & mantras reverberated in the temple. As the bath with milk, yoghurt, honey, ghee, sugar and water that helps in the purification of the soul were poured over BABA's murti by each & every one of us. Next on the programme was Morning Aarti the next of many more wonderful Aartis led by Turkantam with Indian & Western devotees from all over the world joining together praising the Lord Of Haidakhan in the beautiful open Kali Temple as the Sun was coming up and Shining in! The reading of the Haidiakhandi Sapta Sati followed by the First of 3 VERY POWERFUL Yagnas led by Shri Muni Raji over the next days. As the haven finished and prasad was being handed out to the sweet sound of "OM HAIDAKHANI" we were informed to quickly freshen up as we would be accompanying BABAji's Padukas & Muni Raj to the home of Smt. Manjuben where they hosted Padukanpujan & Bhandara! Travelling with BABAji we are always so warmly & graciously welcomed into devotees homes, it is so wonderful to connect with the BABAji family and share our experiences, LOVE & friendship. A Gorgeous Bhandara was offered with all of SHIVji's favourite Unusal sweet & savory fasting foods called Faral! If you would have seen our plates you would have agreed with what our host Pallu from Manda Ashram sweetly told me with a smile "We're really feasting not fasting" as she went on to tell me how they make the "Shrikhand" which is one of Shiva's favourite sweeties and I don't think I stand alone when I say it is now also one of mine! :)

The evening of MAHASHIVARATRI began with another Glorious heartfelt Aarti, as the Hanuman Chalisa was finishing we could see BABAji's paduka's approaching from the kutir. As the sandals neared the Mandir, we Haidakhandis were Joyfully singing OM NAMAH SHIVAYA. The MAHASHIVARATRI Paduka Puja began, Kali Shani Maharaj & Gangaji together were lighting the beautiful 108 Lamp Deepak, a SPECTACULAR site to behold as Shri Muni Raji & the other devotees offered light to our Beloved Bhole BABA! This was followed by the four PRAHAR SHIV Puja where we all gathered around Muni Raji as he commenced the puja with continious Abhishek on the Lingams as the Pandits chanted the Rudri. The Shiva Purana says that, by performing this simple yet POWERFUL abhisheka (divine bathing) of the Shiva Linga that Asutosh [The form of Shiva who is easily pleased] BLESSES sincere worshipers & pure hearts with Spiritual growth & merits! The Abhishek continues on throughout the entire night until everyone has had a chance to perform this Special Puja. Groups of seven at a time sit in front of the Mandir and offer as we other Devotees stayed awake and spent the night singing & chanting ‘Om Namah Shivaya’ as well as other devotional hymns and Praises to Lord Shambhu. As the the light of day was breaking Shri Muni Raji again gave Chandan in BABAji's kutir followed by Puja, Aarti, Shapta Sati & havens over the next two days.

We departed Manda Ashram on 08 March after the final fire ceremony and were taken to the home of the Late Ramanbhai Desai whom BABAji used to visit when he was in Vapi. Again Padukanpujan was performed as we were again lovlingly invited into their home, it was a wonderful Opportunity to see and hear some Gujarati BABAji Bhajans, as the singing went on the family handed out huge fresh coconuts to us all with straws in them and we enjoyed the refreshing coconut juice in the hot Vapi Sun. As fast as we finished one coconut we were generously offered another one as we watched Shri Muni Raji lead the final fire ceremony for our Vapi hosts, family & friends. Of course it's not a festival in India without a Bhandara and when the haven finished we were once again served a sumptuous feast with Shiva's favourite Shivaratri foods!

Finally we saw Shri Muni Raji off with Praises of BHOLE BABA KI JAI as he headed back to Mumbai to fly back to Delhi. The rest of us Haidakhandis piled into our taxis with our hosts Pallu & Yogendra who drove us to the railway station where we devotees along with the Shri Padukaji boarded the train and setteled in for our journey back to Delhi & Haidakhan VishwaMAHAdham!

We all thank Yogendra Mahdavalal & Pallu & everyone at Manda & Vapi for hosting us all so kindly. To Shri Muni Raji MAHAraji for his untiring & JOYFUL service. Much LOVE to my Haidakhandi Brothers & Sisters who I feel most Blessed to have been able to share the Auspicious occasion of MAHAshivaratri with. A pilgrimage & Intense programme of this size can bring up many things, there was stress, challenges, & even tears, [and that was just the travelling part] :) But a pilgrimage is as much about leaving as it is becoming. When we step out of our comfort zones and dive into the process of going & doing we open ourselves up to new and even dazzling experiences! As my friend Lambodar recently said to me "Participation leads to LIBERATION!" BABAji often times puts us together with people [and quite closely too I might add :) ] we may have very little contact with in our everyday ashram life. For myself new friendships were formed, old friendships strengthened and of course the most poignant encounters along the way are when we catch glimpses of the self that we are becoming.

With GLORY & PRAISES to EVERYONE who mirrored Shri BABAji's LOVE TRUTH & SIMPLICITY

We recently recieved a treasure chest of photos & documents in the Haidakhan office from a long time Indian devotee who recently passed away. I came across a Newsletter from February 1983 which talked about Shri Babaji's visit to Vapi & as we are just a bit more than a week away from SHIVARATRI & also about to make the very same journey as BHOLE BABA, I thought I would share this wonderful Information/INSPIRATION...Hope you enJOY it as much as I have!!! BHOLE BABA KI JAI

Shri Shri 1008 Shri Bhagwan Herakhan Wale Baba
Herakhan News Letter Feb 1983.

JAI MAHA MAYA KI JAI!
BHOLE BABA KI JAI!

Babaji left Herakhan on February 8th spent 2 nights in Delhi and flew to Bombay on the morning of the 10th. Shivaratri was celebrated on the 11th & a 9 day yagna and reading of the Devi Bhagwat was started. On February 20th Babaji travelled to the Go-Seva Ashram in Vapi for a 6 day programme and on the 25th reached Umbaji in central Gujarat State, North of Bombay. On March 2nd Babaji began another 9 day Yagna in Sihor, Gujarat. After several more stops Babaji will reach Vrindaban on March 16th for the celebration of Prakat and then return to Herakhan after March 20th Spring Navratri will be held at Herakhan between April 14th and 22nd. During this time there will be an international gerneral body meeting of the Herakhandi Samaj.

While in Bombay Babaji was asked to set a specific date for the peace yagna. He had earlier asked be organized in the West. Babaji said that he would not set a date until the Ashrams and centres in the West had cleared the air. Those who had heard his words felt that BABAji wants to encourage greater sincerity in demonstrating the principals of TRUTH, SIMPLICITY, LOVE--A task more difficult than the prepatory work of organization. Personal relationships within the centres must reflect LOVE. Babaji has said that all must learn to work together harmoniosusly and be gracious to visitors. LOVE after all is a remembrance. In this case a remembrance of others and their needs. TRUTH, as Babaji has said creates success. Babaji has encouraged the centres to be as Islands in the ocean of material illusion, to become finacially independent and to spread his message. SIMPLICITY means an absence of self posssession and egoism. Simplicity can exist in the city just as easily as on a farm. As it stands now there will be no representatives of Babaji travelling to the West for a peace Yagna. A special notice will be sent out if and when Babaji sets a date and names representatives for a Yagna.

As is his custom, BABAji used most of the days in Bombay to visit the homes of devotees. On one such occassion the Aarti which was being done to BABAji was videotaped. When the tape was shown the picture focused on the Aarti lamp and out of the flames appeared the letters RAM in Sanskrit remained on the screen for about a minute.

Extensive preparations had been made a the Go-Seva Ashram for BABAji's visit this year. At the Vapi Ashram site a new steel cow shed now house for milk producing cows and a bull. At the Bhole Baba Colony [The name given the 75 acre Go-Seva Farm outside Vapi] and eight room permanent guest house hs been completed, two new water wells are operating, BABAji's rooms renovated and hundreds of new trees planted. Two Westerners have made a commitment to work with the Go-Seva Ashram for 3 months. The Ashram Trustees would like to se more interest from Westerners in living there for extened periods.

In early February a notice was recieved at Herakhan from GP Srivastava announcing his resignation from the position of General Secretary to the Herakhandi Samaj. Shrivastava cited socio/political activities that he has become involved in as requiring his resignation. No successor has been named and the matter will probably not be taken up until the meeting in April.

In a previous news letter it was noted that BABAji had inaugurated an international organinization to help spread his message. The name of the organization is the Herakhan Baba Prachar Sang. Prachar means something like "Publicity" of "Spreading the Word" and Sang means "Union" or "Organization". Letters have gone out to 12 countries where there are Babaji Centres authorizing and requesting specific devotees to initiate action to create tax exempt orgtanizations to recieve donations and to establish working national committees for the purpose of spreading BABAji's Word. Unlike the Herakhandi Samaj, The Prachar Sang is not a membership organization. It's purpose is to direct, organize and systemaztie specific projects.

The first project of the Prachar Sang has been to compile and arrange for the publication of Babaji's speeches. The tentative title is "The Teachings Of Shri BABAji: The book will contain a breif introduction to let readers know the source of the material, about 50 talks [some few from Shastriji] and a glossary of terms. The book may be ready for distibution by the end of March. It is planned to send bundles of books to Prachar Sang organizations around thw world and have them sold for a small amount whidh will remain with the national Prachar Sang organization to fund it's work of advertising the book and otherwise to do the work of the Prachar Sang. When the books are received their availability should be advertised to BABAji Devottes and to all others through whatever means appear to be appropriate and affordable.

Herakhan is once again favoured by warm weather. Construction, even in BABAji's absence is continuing. A four room guest house with attached bathrooms and kitchens is being completed on the upper level between the temple area and the international guest house. A small temple/shrine of the Swaymbhu Murti is being finished near the "Ashram store" The murti, Swaymbhu means self generated, was carved by an Italian sculptor and helper in January. Aarti is done here twice a day. Electrification of Herakhan is underway. When the switch with electricity from Haldwani was turned on BABAji said that Herakhan would never be as the same. And so it is. Most of the living rooms now shine with electric lights and some are even outfitted with toasters.

Centres are again asked to invite interested people to complete their Herakhandi Samaj memberships.

Please Note that because of the high cost of Petrol here in India the cost to book a taxi from Delhi to Haldwani or vice versa has gone up. The costs are now as follows:

Delhi Airport to Haldwani 4,000 Rupees
Central Delhi [CP or Pahar Ganj] to Haldwani 3,600 Rupees

I will try to have this information corrected in the main "BOOK" portion of the site as soon as possible but for all the most recent updates please continue to check this BLOG Page.

BHOLE BABA KI JAI
Well, Shri BABAji always likes us to be Alert and the Great Telephone Leela is in full swing. As many people will attest to it has been quite difficult to get through to the Telephone in Haidakhan but as of last week we have changed service providers and have a NEW TELEPHONE NUMBER! The number is:

+91 9927662037

Again Best times to call for the Herakhan office are in the morning 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM and in the afternoons from 4:30 PM- 6:00 PM. The reason the telephone number has changed is because BSNL service provider is no longer working in the Herakhan area. We are now receiving service from "IDEA" which works very well in Haidakhan. So anyone wishing to use a mobile phone in Haidakhan look into IDEA here in India. Hope this information helps everyone!
